Hello Christ Church!

One of my best friends shared a sermon with me yesterday (side note: that is a sign of a great friend, one who not only encourages you, but does so in the Lord!) and I thought I'd share the encouragement with you. The sermon was on John 14:1; “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me [Jesus]."  I will admit, I am an over-thinker, and that quickly leads me to feeling anxious or worried. But right there in John 14:1, Jesus tells us that trusting in him is the only true solution for a "troubled" (overwhelmed, anxious, worried, etc.) heart. Sunday morning, Pastor Jon expounded Hebrews 14:16-17, and encouraged us that we have a High Priest who sympathizes with our weaknesses. Jesus knows our worries and he himself is the solution. Praise the Lord!

New Members Class | Sundays at 4:15 PM
Our New Members Class is for all those who would like to find out more information about the church and/or join us in membership. This is a great opportunity for visitors to learn more about the distinctives of Christ Church Presbyterian and to understand what it means to be a member of the church. If you are interested in joining the next class, please contact Pastor Michael (michael@christchurchcharleston.org). We will meet in the sanctuary of the church at 4:15pm on Sundays.

If you are interested in helping out in the Christ Church Kitchen please join Lynn Earle, Debbie Charles and the other Kitchen Ladies for a quick 20 minute meeting after the morning service on Sunday, August 14. Christ Church Women’s Fellowship Event | August 24 at 7:00 PM
Ladies! Mark your calendars! The ladies of Christ Church are warmly invited to gather for a monthly time of encouraging fellowship. The Women's Fellowship is hosted in a different home each month, and includes heavy finger foods, dessert, fellowship, a devotion, and a season of prayer. It’s a time to grow deeper in the Lord and foster friendships, old and new. The August Women’s Fellowship will be Wednesday, August 24 at 7:00 PM, at the home of Aurelia Muller. 

Fellowship Meal | Sunday, August 28
Please mark your calendars and make plans enjoy a Fellowship Meal with our church family on August 28th following the morning worship service. Join us for this wonderful time to enjoy a meal and fellowship on the Lord’s day as a church family! We're asking 15 families to sign up to bring a main dish, large enough to serve at least 10 people. We're also asking all other families to bring a side dish or dessert, large enough for your family plus extra. Singles, please bring chips or drinks.

High School Girl's Bible Study | Starting Sunday, August 28 at 4:00PM
High School Gals! Join Rachael McIntosh for a Bible Study held in Pastor Jon's office at 4:00PM on Sunday afternoons starting on Sunday, August 28. We will be walking through the book of James together. If you are interested in joining this study, please email Rachael McIntosh at rachael@christchurchcharleston.org. 

Fall Church Picnic | Saturday, September 10th
We have reserved space at Palmetto Islands County Park for our Fall Church Picnic! The picnic will be on Saturday, September 10th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this wonderful time of fun and fellowship with your church family!

Mission Conference | October 7-9, 2022
Mark your calendars for a high impact weekend focused on the Great Commission at Christ Church Presbyterian on October 7-9. Rev. Chris Gordon, Senior Pastor of Escondido URC in Escondido, California will be our guest preacher. In addition to pastoral ministry, Pastor Gordon is the host of Abounding Grace Radio, a Christian radio ministry that reaches hundreds of thousands of people across the U.S., Canada, and Africa. In addition, Pastor Gordon is the author of The New Reformation Catechism on Human Sexuality. Please make plans to attend this mission focused weekend. Kids’ Catechism | Sunday, August 14 at 4:30 PM
Children ages 8–12 are welcome to join the Kids’ Catechism Class at Christ Church; we are studying the Westminster Shorter Catechism and meet at Sundays 4:30 PM at the church.

MUSC & Twenty-Somethings: Takeout & Hangout | Tuesday, August 16th at 6:45 PM
This Tuesday at 6:45pm, instead of our regular study, join us for Takeout and Hangout on Sullivan’s Island. Grab your favorite takeout and head to Station 26 on Sullivan’s Island to hang out on the beach! Don’t forget to bring a towel or beach chair. Frisbees, footballs, and other outdoor games are welcome to be brought and shared!

Men of the Covenant Bible Study | Thursday, August 11 at 7:00am
Our Men of the Covenant Bible study meets Thursday morning at 7:00 AM at the church. We are about to begin a study of the book: Knowing Christ by Mark Jones. Please join us for this time of growing in grace with one another! Books are available for those who attend the study.
