New Schedule | Encouragement from Pastor Jon

Dearest Christ Church Family

I can't wait to be with you, my beloved church family, tomorrow at Christ Church Presbyterian. As the fabric of our post-Christian culture unravels around us, it’s an indescribable joy and comfort to gather with you for Lord's Day worship. Let’s not forget, in worship our souls are deeply reassured by God's (powerful and hope-filled) Gospel, through the ministry of Word and sacrament. Moreover, in worship we are encouraged by the robust congregational singing, confession, prayers, and fellowship of our fellow pilgrims. It’s in Lord’s Day worship that we receive and feast upon the true manna from heaven, our Lord Jesus Christ, and are reminded that this world (praise God!) is not our final destination.

I would like to remind you of two quick things as we gather tomorrow.

1. Covid-19 numbers have spiked considerably over the past two-weeks. One of our members, a physician at MUSC, at my request has shared with me that the hospitals in the Charleston low country are full and the medical community is fatigued. First, please pray for the medical professionals in our congregation, as well as in our community, that God would grant them grace and strength in the midst of the pandemic. We are so thankful for their labors during this very challenging time. Second, if you are in a high risk category, and thus concerned about attending in-person worship at this time, please take advantage of our services via livestream. You can also request social-distanced seating from our deacons, beforehand or when you arrive, and preference will be given to those in high risk categories (please email Jake Earle). We will temporarily suspend the greeting time before worship. Third, if you are interested, please take time to read (or re-read) the session’s statement on Covid-19, optional mask-wearing, and in-person worship at Christ Church.

2. New Church Schedule: Please take note that tomorrow we begin our new fall schedule. Our weekly congregational prayer meeting is from 8:50 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. It’s been wonderful to see this meeting grow. Please join us as we cry out to our omnipotent Sovereign — our God who hears and answers prayer. We will have Sunday school for all ages at 9:30 a.m. Bring your whole family to this important time of Christian discipleship. Our new members’ class will be at 4:15 p.m. and our Catechism Kids at 4:30 p.m. Lord’s Day morning and evening worship will be at the regular times— 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

May God’s Spirit move powerfully in us and among us tomorrow— directing our faith to Jesus Christ, the hope of glory.

“It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High: to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness at night.” Ps. 92:1-2
